In today's society people always want to be fashionable, updated on the latest trends, buying what they don't need , watching the hottest shows on TV. In an other words people are always wrapped up with what the media says especially teenagers . The media always shows us what we want to hear , see and do but they don't show us the outcome. People are always doing things to pass time , they sit at home watching commercials , watching celebrities on TV , listening to music . Every thing is a puzzle you must put every piece together to see the picture to reveal a hidden message. Young girls are the one that are the most effected by what the media shows because they want to be like the models on TV . These young girls will do anything to meet these standards the media portraits . The media is very powerful and at all means will make things appealing to the naked eye. Everything falls back to image of having the perfect body image , by that being stated personal problems with ourselves will uprise causing unhealthy and imply a negative attitude towards our personal image. "Mass media's use of such unrealistic models sends an implicit message that in order for a woman to be considered beautiful, she must be unhealthy. The mindset that a person can never be "too rich or too thin" is all too prevalent in society, and it makes it difficult for females to achieve any level of contentment with their physical appearance"(Myriad Submission Form).

Eating disorders have been around since the 1900’s up to now. The causes don’t change they all stay the same. It all starts from not liking the way you look and wanting a body that might be hard to get, but it will put you through so many challenges until you feel thats the body you want but what many people don't know is that every time you will look your self in the mirror you might see your self as “fat” when your really not. Everything is just been based on the way you feel about your self and as well the way you letting everything impact on your self. Not being happy on the way you look can lead to depression, from depression it can lead to obsessive work outs or something that many find easier to do to loose weight fall into world of eating disorders; that can involved anorexia and bulimia. This major eating disorders can lead to death and many people has being impact by it. “20% of people suffering from anorexia will prematurely die from complications related to their eating disorder, including suicide and heart problems” (South Carolina Department of Mental Health). Not many people has been successful and pass trough this problem because theirs many cases where a lot of people specially teenagers do not find the help they need and their eating disorder problem becomes a habit that may appear something is going on to others but will not find the reason what will be wrong until is too late “Only 1 in 10 people with eating disorders receive treatment” (South Carolina Department of Mental Health).

Based on statistics we might think that the ones who gets affected the most from the media its teenagers or grown ups but media has different methods to each every one out and fall for the tricks and makes you to have the idea that your body is not perfect the way it is. That you should be at a certain color skin but more at a certain type of body. Barbie dolls is the other way where many little girls get affected by it.
