National Context
In the United States there is many situations with stereotypes and these situations makes everything worst by pushing most of the girls or guys to believe they are not beautiful because of their body and the image they have of them. “All too often, society associates being "thin", with "hard-working, beautiful, strong and self-disciplined. On the other hand, being "fat" is associated with being "lazy, ugly, weak and lacking will-power". Because of these harsh critiques, rarely are women completely satisfied with their image” (Eating disorders). Everyone has put labels to the type of body you have. The way the United States is affected by body image is because in America Society there has been a culture developed by everyone who gets affected by the media because every single time products are sold, or advertisements come out they always put someone really skinny having everyone else who watch it feel uncomfortable with themselves. When media starts selling products like make up products, medicine that will help you get your perfect body, or other different stuff like jewelry the media always put skinny models that will get everyone convince and will make them wanting to buy the product. “Consumers plunk down millions of dollars each year to attend movies, escaping their own realities through the world of the big screen, a world populated by actors and models whose bodies seem sculpted and toned to perfection”(Unbound 2005: America's Distorted Body Image).
Hate is one of most things women have minds because many of them are not happy on what they see when they look at themselves in the mirror and portray them as someone who looks horrible. As someone who looks not attractive, someone who wishes at times they didn’t had to live with such an ugly body. “With such a substantial emphasis placed on appearances in our culture, women of the United States are virtually obsessed with their bodies. Body image problems are proliferating, with approximately 80 percent of all U.S. women admitting to being dissatisfied with their figures”. (Unbound 2005: America's Distorted Body Image). This is compared to the global because there is many people across that have many of this problems and as well many girls start to starve them selves becoming bulimic or anorexia, and other different .
